Privacy policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
- Acasă has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your progress, saved phrases and settings stay on your phone.
- The app sends a small amount of anonymous usage and crash data, which is never linked to you and never used to track you across other apps or websites.
- No ads, and we sell nothing about you to anyone.
Who we are
Learn Romanian: Acasă (“Acasă”, “the app”) and this website are made by Smart Code Solution SRL, Ion Creanga, ap.(of.) 336, 63, mun. Chisinau, Chisinau Municipality MD-2051, Moldova, Republic of (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the data described here. Write to us at hello@learnromanianapp.com with any question about it.
What stays on your phone
Everything you do in the course is stored on your device only: the topics and conversations you finished, your quiz results, the phrases and collections you save, your Review schedule, and your settings (app language, voice, whose word forms to show, daily goal and reminder time). We have no server that receives it and no copy of it.
- Reminders are scheduled by the app on your phone. No server sends them.
- Export saves your progress to a file, which goes only where you choose to put it. Import reads a file you pick.
- Deleting the app deletes your progress and settings from the phone. On iPhone and iPad, a small random install identifier the app keeps in the phone’s secure storage (the Keychain) can remain after deletion; it holds no personal data and is only used to keep the iCloud backup consistent if you reinstall.
Backups by Apple and Google
On iPhone and iPad, when you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps a copy of your progress in your own iCloud account (Apple’s iCloud key-value storage), so it can come back on a new device. It is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple’s terms. We cannot see it.
On Android, if backup is turned on for your phone, Android’s own Auto Backup may include the app’s progress in your Google account’s device backup. It is stored by Google under your account and Google’s terms. We cannot see it.
Speaking practice
Speaking practice is optional. When you use it, your phone’s own speech recognition turns what you say into text: Apple’s on iPhone and iPad, Google’s on Android. To do that, your voice is sent to Apple or Google, with the text of the phrase you are practicing so the recognizer knows what to listen for, which is why this part needs an internet connection. The app asks for permission to use the microphone and speech recognition before the first time, and shows a notice.
The app never records your voice to a file. The text lives only in the phone’s memory long enough to check the words you said, and is then dropped. Neither your voice nor the text is ever sent to us or included in analytics or crash reports. Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies cover what they do with the audio they process.
What the app sends, and to whom
The app uses three services. None of them receives your name, email, contacts, location or anything you say or type, and none of them is used to show you ads or to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog (product analytics) | Anonymous events about how the app is used, such as: onboarding steps reached and the answers picked there (such as who you want to speak with, your level, and your gender, which sets the word forms you learn), sessions and quizzes finished with their results, phrases saved, settings changed (voice, gender, daily goal, reminders; never your partner setting), whether a spoken phrase was recognized (never what was said), the paywall shown or closed, a purchase started or completed, and reminders opened. With them: a random install ID, the app version, the app and device language, the store country, and the device type and system version. | To see where the app works and where it loses people, so we can improve it. |
| Sentry (crash reports) | When the app crashes or hits an error: the technical error details, the names of the screens visited just before, a random install ID, the app version, and the device type and system version. No screenshots and no text from the screen. | To find and fix crashes. |
| RevenueCat (purchases) | A random customer ID it creates, and the purchase records from the App Store or Google Play: which product, when, its price and currency, the store country, and whether a subscription is active or renewing. On iPhone and iPad it also reads Apple’s ad attribution token once, and from it Apple tells RevenueCat whether the app was installed from one of our Apple Search Ads ads, and which campaign and keyword. It holds no advertising identifier, and the app never asks to track you. | To unlock the full course you bought, to restore it on a new phone, and to see which of our own ads lead to purchases. |
Like any internet service, these services see the network (IP) address a request comes from. The app tells PostHog not to look up a location from it and sends Sentry a placeholder address in its place, so we do not use it to locate or identify you. Because the app has no accounts, none of this data is linked to your identity: we cannot tell who you are from it.
Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card or payment details, or the name and email on your store account.
These services may process data in the European Union and the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area or the UK, it is protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
This website
The site is a set of static pages served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and browser details to deliver them and to protect the site from abuse.
This site uses no analytics and sets no cookies.
The store buttons send you to the App Store or Google Play with the name of the page you came from attached, so the stores can tell us how many downloads each page led to, as a total. It does not identify you.
Why we may use this data
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it for the anonymous analytics and crash reports, on the contract with you to provide a purchase, and on your consent for the website’s analytics cookies.
How long it is kept
Data on your phone stays until you delete it or the app. Analytics events and crash reports are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the app, and are deleted by those services under their retention settings. Purchase records are kept for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may ask to access, correct, delete or move personal data, object to its use, or complain to your data protection authority. Write to us at hello@learnromanianapp.com. Because the app has no accounts, we usually hold nothing we can connect to you; the data on your phone is already in your hands, and Export gives you a copy of it.
Children
Acasă is made for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If the app starts to handle data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
